What You Should be Doing on Social Media Daily

When our clients come to us with the hopes of growing their social media following, the most common question is, “How do I grow my channel organically?”

It’s no secret that the use of fake followers and bots is a turn-off for your audience, your potential clients, and your potential business partners, too, so that is never a suggestion of ours. Those seemingly easy solutions always tend to come back and bite you!

So, while the answer is to organic growth is complex, it can also be boiled down to something very simple: Organic growth on Instagram requires constant action.

The complex answer comes from diving into what kind of daily action is actually required, and why it genuinely matters to your growth and success on any social media platform.

So, let’s take a dive into your social media daily to-do list for growth!

Daily community outreach

Every day you should be sharing some type of content with your audience. In general, we suggest posting only one post per day to your Instagram feed. Why? Anything more than at most two posts per day will start to bombard your followers.

In addition, your daily posts will be in competition with each other. It’s better to draw all of the attention you can to one post than pull attention away from it with another.

If you want to share more, show up on Instagram Stories! This is a great way to share content in a more free-flowing way. Bonus: Instagram Stories are a great way to increase engagement with your followers — especially if you use fun features like polls, quizzes, and question boxes.

Engaging with your followers

Engagement with your content is hugely important for your growth. The more engagements you get on your posts — saves, comments, shares, likes — the higher it is going to rank in your followers’ feeds (aka it will have increased visibility!).

Here’s the thing, though, you can’t leave that engagement ignored! You have to respond to all of your comments! An ignored follower = a follower who likely won’t comment again.

Even if the comments are a simple heart emoji, write back something heartfelt like, “Thanks for the love!” or “Appreciate you for checking out my page!”

The more you respond, the more they’ll engage!

Engaging with your target audience (outside of your following)

Don’t forget to engage with people outside of your following that still fall within the category oof your target audience!

If you’re not sure how to find those accounts, start by searching the results that come up under hashtags that are relevant to your content. For example, if your content is outdoor-focused for women, search hashtags like #outdoorwomen and start liking and commenting on the content that comes up under that hashtag group.

Without question, they will return the favor in the form of likes and comments on your content, and they’ll likely start following you as well!

Optimizing your content with reach-boosting features

Don’t forget the value of an increased reach, and increased visibility for growth. Engagement is essential, but so too is creating ways for people outside of your following to find you!

Optimize your content by always adding a location tag, and always including 30 on-brand hashtags that are relevant to the content you’re sharing. If you’re looking for a repost from pages that are commonly sharing user-generated-content, tag them in your graphic/photo! A re-post from an account with a big following will undoubtedly draw new attention to your Instagram profile!
