What You Should be Doing on Social Media Monthly
If you’ve been keeping up with our recent blog series, we’ve been sharing all of the things we suggest doing on social media on a daily, and weekly, basis to start achieving the growth you want to see.
What you should be doing on a monthly basis has less to do with content creation and audience engagement and more to do with gaining insight into how your content is performing and where you could be improving.
Every month you should be focusing on your Instagram analytics — and if you’re not sure which analytics you should be looking at and why we’re going to break that down for you!
Accounts Reached
When you head to your Instagram Analytics, be sure to use the “Last 30 Days” filter for your monthly check-in!
Under “Overview” click on “Accounts Reached” and this will open a variety of insights into the visibility of your content.
You’ll get to see the number of impressions, profile visits, website clicks, etc. your content and profile has received. Even better, you’ll be able to see the % increase — or decrease — from the month prior to help you understand if your visibility has improved or not.
If you’re noticing that the numbers are trending down, it’s time to go back to your daily to-dos.
Are you showing up consistently?
Are you engaging with your followers?
Are you using relevant hashtags — and using a variety of hashtags rather than the same 30 over and over again?
Content Interactions
This analytic allows you to see exactly how many interactions your content has received in the last month — it’s a total breakdown of every engagement type: likes, comments, saves, and shares.
In addition to taking this information in, we strongly suggest that you take a deep dive into your “top posts.” Again, be sure to filter this information to the “last 30 days” view.
Here you’ll be able to see which posts specifically have received the most engagement from likes to comments, and everything in between.
Why is this helpful? It tells you EXACTLY what your audience likes to, and wants to see, and the type of content they find most valuable (this is where the saves insights come in most handy!).
Use this information to inform the content you create for the following month, and see how the numbers grow and change!
Your Audience
It will ALWAYS benefit you to learn more about your audience!
Heading to the “Your Audience” analytic will pull up a variety of insights that tell you about your audience demographics — ages, genders, locations, etc.
We suggest paying close attention to the “Most Active Times” insights! This tells you exactly when your audience is online every day of the week and at various times.
Ultimately, you want to coordinate your content posting scheduling around these days and times. Showing up for your audience when they are most active online is going to yield the best engagement numbers for you!
Do you do regular analytics check-ins with your social media content? Did you know that every platform offers these insights? Whether you’re on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or LinkedIn, you should be utilizing the audience analytics that each platform offers to learn more about your audience, and what they want to see from you.
